Rebels Start Season Slow

Six games into the 2017 season, the Genesee Rebels find themselves on the bottom of the Southern
Division with a record of 2-4. It has been tough sailing for the Rebels thus far as they have struggled to put runs on the board. The good news is, there is a lot of season left and the Rebels have a renewed sense of confidence after a solid win over the Rome Raiders last Sunday.

Chris Elliott has been a bright spot for
the Rebels at the plate this season.
So far, Genesee has played well against the Northern Division going 2-1 with victories over Rome and Ixonia. Their one cross-division loss came against Merton when the Rebs couldn't get anything going offensively and lost a close one 2-1.

Against the Southern Division, things have been a different story. Genesee finds themselves 0-3 with losses to East Troy, Waterford, and Racine. There is no doubt that the Rebs will have to play near flawless baseball to compete against the stronger Southern Division. Defensively, they seem poised to do great things with the deepest pitching staff they have ever had and not a weak fielder behind them. This season will undoubtedly come down to the bats. If the Rebels can string together a few hits and plate some runs, they should do just fine.

Genesee returns to action on Sunday, June 25th when they host an undefeated Waterford. The game is slated to start at 12:00pm at Genesee Town Park.
