Rebels Start Season Slow

Six games into the 2017 season, the Genesee Rebels find themselves on the bottom of the Southern
Division with a record of 2-4. It has been tough sailing for the Rebels thus far as they have struggled to put runs on the board. The good news is, there is a lot of season left and the Rebels have a renewed sense of confidence after a solid win over the Rome Raiders last Sunday.

Chris Elliott has been a bright spot for
the Rebels at the plate this season.
So far, Genesee has played well against the Northern Division going 2-1 with victories over Rome and Ixonia. Their one cross-division loss came against Merton when the Rebs couldn't get anything going offensively and lost a close one 2-1.

Against the Southern Division, things have been a different story. Genesee finds themselves 0-3 with losses to East Troy, Waterford, and Racine. There is no doubt that the Rebs will have to play near flawless baseball to compete against the stronger Southern Division. Defensively, they seem poised to do great things with the deepest pitching staff they have ever had and not a weak fielder behind them. This season will undoubtedly come down to the bats. If the Rebels can string together a few hits and plate some runs, they should do just fine.

Genesee returns to action on Sunday, June 25th when they host an undefeated Waterford. The game is slated to start at 12:00pm at Genesee Town Park.

Season Opener!

The Genesee Rebels take the field on Sunday, May 7th when they face off against the East Troy Express. The game is scheduled in Genesee Depot with first pitch coming at 12:00pm. Both teams look poised for a solid season in the new look Land O Lakes. The Rebels will still be missing a few of their key players as their collegiate seasons have not concluded yet. A few new faces mixed with a veteran presence should hopefully prove to be a good mix for the Rebels.

Season Preview

The season opener for the Genesee Rebels baseball team is fast approaching. Despite the terrible spring weather, the Rebels are amping up for the season and have much to be excited about. As long as the sun comes up and it warms up, the season is set to be a success. Here's a quick look at some new things for the Rebs this season:

Community Partners: The Rebels are excited to announce that they have formed partnerships with many local businesses. The outpouring of support from businesses in the community has been amazing. Thanks to numerous sponsorships, the Rebels were able to purchase a new L-Screen, update the PA System for home games, drastically lower the cost of the Youth Camp allowing more athletes to attend, and set the Rebels up for success. Please check out our sponsors page and be sure to support these businesses. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Roster: Despite the departure of a few Rebs from the past season, the roster is actually growing. There will be four new faces taking the field for the Rebels this year, all of them college kids. Spencer Pierce, Ethan Fleigle, Alex Pronachinske, and Arron Buck will done the black and white for the first time this season. Derek Urban and Dom Nabak look to make their return after a year's hiatus. The Rebels will also have a solid sophomore class as Jalen Bilty, Brett Zickert, Nate Labott, and Alex Kermendy are all set to return and have a large impact. Of course, the veteran core is still sticking around and barring old-age injuries, this year should provide a great mix of veteran leadership with youthful talent and energy. More arms on the mound will also be an added bonus!

Division Play: The Land O Lakes has seen a lot of movement the past few years, but the Southwest remains strong. This year, the Rebels find themselves playing in the Southern Division and will face off in 3-game series with Racine, Waterford, East Troy, and Burlington. The schedule will be a tough one and the Rebels will have to play solid ball to find themselves in the winning column but they welcome the challenge.

Those are just a few of the things coming your way this summer. Check out the season opener on May 7th at 12:00pm at Genesee Town Park when the East Troy Express come to town.

Pitchers and Catchers Report

It's official. Baseball is getting closer! Many pitchers and catchers are reporting to Florida and Arizona spring leagues in the days and weeks to come. Hopefully some of that warm weather makes its way up north. In the meantime, the Rebels will be getting ready for an exciting 2017 campaign.

The offseason brought a myriad of changes that we won't get into right now. Don't worry, more to come in the near future. For now, we want to let you know that our schedule has been finalized and we are ready to go. There may be a few more non-conference or pre-season games added to the schedule, but the outline is complete. The Rebels have their league debut on May 7th and will host their 3rd annual Youth Camp on May 13th. Check out the Schedule and Camps tab for more information.

Baseball is coming. Are you ready?
